K-8 SUMMER PROGRAMS
Each summer, young actors from kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to explore theatrical performance through Acme Theatre Company’s summer drama camps!
Our focus is on providing young actors with a fun, energetic theatre experience.
All classes are led by high-school members of Acme Theatre Company, and supervised by adult Acme mentors. Upon graduation from 8th grade, all students are invited to join Acme Theatre Company!
REGISTRATION: Begins in March at the Davis Arts Center.
Ages: 5-7, Grades K-1 st
All young children are invited to explore the creative world of drama in this fun, low-key, two-week camp. We will build our make-believe and acting skills using vocal and physical movement exercises, a Theatrical Treasure Hunt, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and a Costume Day. Our class will culminate with building our own sock puppets, developing an original story, and performing a world premiere puppet
show at our final class session!
THEATRE INTRO- INITIAL STAGE
Ages: 7-11, Grades 2-5
Join us for a three-week acting camp to rehearse and perform new versions of classic tales with evil fairies, enchanted forests, under the sea adventures, and many more in Deleted Scenes from Fairy Tales! Each student will receive a speaking role in a short play and be guided through projection, line memorization, building character & physical acting skills. Our final class will be followed by provided dinner and a final performance at 7pm!
THEATRE PRODUCTION- AWKWARD STAGE
Age: 11-14, Grades 6-8
In this 4-week camp, students will be guided through the entire theatrical process from auditioning to performance. We will focus on honing acting and performance skills and explore basic costuming & set construction. Please note our final class session will be followed by provided dinner and our culminating performance at 7pm!
